URGENT NOYES UPDATE:
NOYES RENOVATION IS IN DANGER OF BEING CANCELED!
Dear Noyes Library Community Supporters:
As many of you know, the Noyes Children's Library Foundation (NCLF) has worked tirelessly for many years to advocate for a renovation and expansion of the Noyes Library for Young Children in Kensington, Maryland. To date:
On November 13th, NCLF learned that the County Executive canceled the Noyes Library Renovation and removed it from the Capital Improvement Plan list. The CE didn't reach out to discuss this with NCLF before making this recommendation. Per the terms of the MOU between Montgomery Country and NCLF, it requires ‘good faith negotiation’ and we expect the County to honor their obligations and the terms of our agreement.
We encourage all of our supporters to send emails ASAP (by December 10th, 2024) to the County Exec Marc Elrich, Chief Administrative Officer Rich Madaleno, the County Council, and a few of the support staff (see listed email addresses below). If helpful, we have provided language you can copy/paste into an email and send now.
We thank you for your support and haste in helping to advance this renovation as quickly as possible.
Thank you,
The Noyes Children's Library Foundation

- NCLF completed our fundraising goal in 2022 of $1.5 million with the help of many neighbors, supporters, the State District 18 Delegation, and the Town of Kensington.
- The design was completed in 2020, Building Permits were approved in 2021, and the Bidding Process was completed in October 2024.
- The Noyes Library Project is shovel-ready and was due to start in the Winter/ Spring of 2025.

About The LibraryNoyes Children's Library is the oldest public library in the Washington, DC area, and one of only a few public libraries in the U.S. dedicated to children.
Noyes is a place where children fall in love with books. Where families share traditions and build dreams. Where the past is present in the 1893 building, and the future soars in the Make MORE Noyes Renovation. Vertical Divider

About The FoundationJust as Noyes inspires children, so does it inspire the larger community. Founded in 1991, the Foundation has raised more than $800,000 to support Noyes - at times funding a portion of its operating costs - and has successfully completed the Make MORE Noyes Renovation Campaign to make Noyes universally accessible, while expanding its usable space and its early literacy mission.
