The Make MORE Noyes Renovation Campaign

What's better than the storybook charm of Noyes Children's Library to welcome children to the magic of books and reading?

The answer is simple: MORE Noyes!

Not just more space, but space that is universally accessible and absolutely welcoming to those with physical, intellectual and emotional challenges.

Not just more early literacy programs, but programs that reach out to those most in need, while training a new generation of literacy experts.

The Noyes Children's Library Foundation is working to Make MORE Noyes - read on to find out how!

The Make MORE Noyes Campaign is a major capital project that will transform the historic one-room Noyes Children's Library into three accessible floors, going beyond required ADA compliance to create a truly inclusive experience for ALL children and families.

MORE Noyes will also mean an expanded early literacy mission, with room for more programs; resources for more outreach; and expertise for more training through the new Jan Jablonski Early Literacy Training Center.

The all-volunteer Noyes Children's Library Foundation is partnering with Montgomery County, MD, to Make MORE Noyes and to ensure that this treasured children's library can serve children for generations to come.

In January, 2020, Montgomery County's Historic Preservation Commission (HPC) enthusiastically approved the Make MORE Noyes Renovation proposal, as designed by Wiedemann Architects (WA) on behalf of Montgomery County Public Libraries (MCPL) and the Noyes Children's Library Foundation. The HPC was especially supportive of the glass elevator design, which WA had developed in response to earlier discussions with the HPC.

In October, 2017, the Foundation and MCPL had conducted a successful public meeting to present the Glass Elevator concept for the Make MORE Noyes Renovation. The design, pictured here, solves the difficult challenges of access to three stories within the historic structure while having minimal impact on the original building and the surroundings.

Foundation Reaches the Campaign's Halfway Mark

The Noyes Children's Library Foundation has currently raised $835,000 of its $1.6M commitment to the Make MORE Noyes Renovation Campaign. NCLF is partnering with Montgomery County to transform the current one-story, 900-square foot historic building to a three-story, 3500-square foot, fully accessible library that will also serve as the base for the Jan Jablonski Early Literacy Training Center.

NCLF is working diligently with individuals, corporations and philanthropic organizations throughout the region to bridge the gap between funds in-hand and funds needed to Make MORE Noyes! How You Can Help

Since 1893, Noyes Library has stood for the importance of books and reading.  During that time, countless book-lovers have stepped forward to protect Noyes for future generations. Help us secure that future by supporting the Foundation TODAY! After all, the world can always use a little more magic.

The Noyes Children’s Library Foundation is taking the lead in providing funds for an amazing capital project, jointly planned and executed by the Foundation and Montgomery County, to Make MORE Noyes!  The proposed renovation will provide three stories of beautiful space within the historic building, all to further the Library’s mission of connecting children and their families to the world of books.
